It’s also the time to start that satisfying process of Spring Cleaning! Here is the best spring cleaning guide for busy Mamas!
That’s right, I said ‘for busy Mamas’ because let’s be real! Every season we’re in is busy! It’s hard to keep up with our basic tasks, let alone add deep cleaning to the list! I get it. Here’s my go-to guide for everyday cleaning and additional spring cleaning, designed to fit into our busy lives without adding more to your already full plate!
In this simple guide, we’ll break down methods for deep cleaning and how to incorporate a cleaning schedule into your daily routine. Plus, you’ll receive two free printables sent right to your email, to assist with it all! So lets dive into it!
#1 Step To The Best Spring Cleaning Guide For A Busy Mama Is To Stock Up On Supplies
Firstly, make sure you have all your favorite cleaning supplies stocked up! I find it helpful to create a list of everything you use before going to the store. A handy tip for staying stocked is to place a magnetic notepad on your fridge. If I run out, these magnetic notepads come in handy for jotting down what I need to replenish. These cute notepads also come in handy when you are making out your weekly grocery list. If you run out of something, while throwing away the carton, write it on these handy notepads! It works wonders and helps you not have to remember one more thing!
Secondly, place your cleaning supplies where they’re easily accessible. Keeping your basics under the sink in the kitchen is a given, but also consider storing cleaning supplies in your bathrooms. I enjoy cleaning the bathroom while my kids are in the tub. It’s so efficient. Since I store cleaning products for the bathroom under my sink, it’s easy for me to grab them and start cleaning while they’re soaking! I recommend this to any busy Mama!
Also, I find storing my cleaning supplies in these under the sink organizers, helps keep my supplies easily accessible and allows me to see if I am low.
#2 Establishing A Weekly Routine
Yes, the focus is on spring cleaning, but hear me out on why developing a weekly routine will actually help you accomplish all your spring cleaning tasks! If you set up and establish a weekly cleaning list, with tasks and rooms broken down by days, you can easily incorporate your deep cleaning with the days that you already have set up for cleaning. For example, on Mondays, I like to clean all the floors in the kitchen and surrounding areas, so since I am already in the kitchen, I will start to add some spring cleaning kitchen items that are on my list!
How do you establish a weekly cleaning routine?
Begin by breaking down your rooms and chores. Then, take time to plan your week with your kids, considering what tasks align with each day. For instance, if your kids have half-day soccer, schedule tasks that don’t require much time, and leave laundry, for another day.
I have created a simple and effective weekly cleaning list sheet that I love and use! I know it will help you organize your weeks too! And it’s a printable that’s FREE TO YOU! What’s great about this free printable is that it is broken down by days of the week with open note selections. So you can design your weeks how you need them to be. It’s an easy tool to allow you to create a cleaning routine that works best for you and your family! Also, don’t be afraid to switch your list around, it might take some time to really figure out what works best.

#3 Establishing Spring Cleaning Checklist
Once you establish a weekly cleaning routine with that awesome and free printable, incorporating your deep cleaning tasks becomes easier. How it works is that you first create the habit of cleaning or doing a chore on a particular day of the week then you add a couple of items from your Spring Cleaning Checklist! Because you’re already establishing a weekly cleaning routine that suits you well, incorporating deep cleaning tasks into it will be effortless!
How do you make a Spring Cleaning Checklist?
The Spring Cleaning Checklist is really easy to make, you just walk through each room of your home and note areas that need extra TLC or decluttering and then make a list of those things! I have created a Spring Cleaning Checklist that is pretty universal that can be easily added to and make it fit more of your needs in your home! You can get this FREE Printable and the weekly sent right to your inbox!
Take the time to fill out both of the checklist sheets to meet your home’s needs. Then, use them side by side to make a game plan on how you will accomplish your spring cleaning goals! For example, if you are doing laundry on Saturdays, maybe you will want to accomplish spring cleaning in the bedrooms. As you put away the clothes, you will start putting away or donating outgrown clothes and bringing out spring wardrobes. With this example you can see how spring cleaning can fit in easily to your already established cleaning routines.

#4 Accomplishing One Check Mark At A Time!
Now you have created your weekly routine and spring cleaning checklist, it’s now time to get to work! Note that spring cleaning shouldn’t add more stress to your already full plate. Instead, it should be a time that brings you peace, knowing your home, which you’ve been blessed with, is cleaned and maintained.
The secret to maintaining your peace? View spring cleaning as a marathon, not a sprint. Know that you have a few months to tackle your spring cleaning list! I aim to start my spring cleaning on the first day of spring, March 20th, and finish by the end of May, allowing more than enough time to complete my checklist.
Try not to focus on all the tasks at hand, but rather focus on one room at a time or one check mark at a time. Once you see you are checking off your list, you will start feeling that sense of accomplishment and excitement that you are completing your goals. As a busy mama, some days just feel like a blur, but having a checklist for me helps me remain focused and feel that sense of accomplishment! I hope that these free printables will help you feel that way!
#5 Keep Donation Box handy to help with Decluttering
The final tip to the best spring cleaning guide for busy Mamas is to keep a donation box handy during spring cleaning. This way, as you’re sorting through items, you can easily set aside things that are no longer needed or outgrown. It helps declutter the house and teaches our kids the value of giving to others.
You can turn it into a family day, emphasizing the joy of giving. Let your kids go through their toys and add them to the donation box. Consider families who would appreciate these toys and deliver them directly. I even have friends of mine who have done this for us! It’s so special to receive these toys for my kids and even more special seeing my good friends’ kids feel a sense of joy giving the toy they once played with to someone who will play with it! I highly recommend doing this simple gesture as a family! They are core memories that will help shape your little ones character.
Final Thoughts.
Truth be told, my house isn’t always spotless or perfectly clean. Some days, all I manage is dishes and wiping down the counters. And you know what? That’s okay! We’re all busy moms, focusing on the most important things—our children. Give yourself grace in whatever season you’re in with your kids.
Even though we are busy, I believe it’s still beneficial to set the goal of establishing a rhythm in your home. And Spring is one of the best times to do so! Spring cleaning isn’t just about transitioning from winter to spring; it can also involve embracing a fresh mindset and setting new goals! So I hope these two free resources will serve you well and help you in creating those rhythms in your home.
